Schraufnagel, Joyce (29 JUL 1961)
Miss Joyce Schraufnagel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Schraufnagel, and James Koelbl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Koelbl of La Cross, exchanged marriage vows Saturday morning, July 29, 1961, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. The eleven o’clock ceremony was performed in the new church preceding the nuptial high mass. The Rev. Raymond B. Schulz officiated.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of pure silk organza over taffeta. The Basque bodice had short sleeves and a scoop neckline appliqu? with sequin embroidered Chantilly lace. The bouffant skirt had appliques of lace with side amphasia pleats and the chapel train swept to a fan pleated pick up at the back. The hand rolled waltz length veil was held by a full blooming silk organza rose. Her bridal bouquet was a cascade arrangement of red roses with feathered white carnations.
The bride’s attendants were all attired alike in gowns of lilac chiffon and danalit taffeta. The sleeves of the bodice had draped scoop necklines. The fitted taffeta midriff was accented with a tailored bustle bow and the chiffon draped bell skirt was street length. They wore matching chiffon hats with lace veils and carried cascade bouquets of yellow carnations.
The bride chose four cousins as her attendants. Serving as matron of honor was Mrs. Don Haralson of Marshfield. Bridesmaids were Miss Gloria Fox of Mason, Miss Sharon Carlson of Duluth and Miss Carol Schraufnagel of Colby.
Thomas Koelbl was best man for his brother. Gale and Harley Schraufnagel, brothers of the bride, and Don Haralson, cousin of the bride, were groomsmen.
To her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Schraufnagel wore a pale grey dress with pink accessories and had a corsage of pink and white carnations.
Mrs. Koelbl wore a blue dress and had white accessories. Her corsage was made of pink carnations.
Mrs. Rose Miller of Mason, grandmother of the bride, and Mrs. Mary Koelbl of La Crosse, grandmother of the groom, had corsages of pink and white carnations.
Wedding day festivities included a dinner served at noon at the high school, a reception and supper at the village hall and dancing in the evening at Memorial Hall at Dorchester.
About 175 persons attended the wedding, coming from Ashland, la Crosse, Mason, Edgar, Ettrick, Beloit, Madison, Tomahawk, Eau Claire, Marshfield, Duluth, Minneapolis, Colby and Abbotsford.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Koelbl left on a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and will make their home at 839 Saint Andrew St. in La Crosse. The groom is employed as a barber and the bride as a teller at the Coulee State Bank.
